God is All-powerful

Christian Book about Birds2

Once upon a time there was a family of birds that lived in a tree by a park. There was a Dada Bird, a Mama Bird, and the little birds: Duff, Puff, Gruff, Ruff & Tuff, and Fluff.

One day the little birds decided to go for a walk in the woods to collect some fall leaves. As they were walking down the path it started to rain. This made the path muddy. At first, the little birds were excited to jump in the mud and slide around. However, it soon became too thick and sticky. It wasn’t long until the little birds got their feet stuck in the mud.

Duff tried to get out by jumping. He mustered up all of his strength and pushed with his legs as hard as he could, but his feet wouldn’t budge. Then Puff had an idea. She tried to fly her way out. She flapped her wings as fast as she could, but she couldn’t get herself off of the ground. Gruff thought that maybe he could reach for a nearby branch and pull himself out. But when got down on his tummy to grab the branch, he got even more stuck. Finally, Tuff had an answer: “How about we pray?” he asked.

“Dear God, we know that you know everything and you can see that we need your help. We also know that you love us and are powerful enough to get us get free so we can go home. Can you please help us get free so we can go home? We love you and trust in you. Amen.”

The very moment that Tuff ended his prayer, a sudden bolt of lightning flashed across the sky. “Oh no,” Puff exclaimed, “a storm is coming. God please help us quickly!”

The little birds looked around for some way that God might help them, but nothing was happening. Do you think God will come through?

Just as the little birds were beginning to get discouraged, they heard the sound of something running towards them. When they turned around they saw two horses with frightened looks on their faces galloping quickly towards them. When they reached the little birds they halted and said “Neigh!”

Then Duff said, “Well, hello! And who are you two?”

One of the horses replied, “I am Harold the horse and this is my wife, Harriet. We live in the barn on the farm. And who are all of you?”

“My name is Duff and these are my brothers and sisters: Gruff, Puff, and Ruff & Tuff. We are little birds. Nice to meet you.” Duff replied. Then he added, “If you live on the farm, why are you here?”

We were eating berries near the meadow when a bolt of lightning struck down right next to us. We were both so scared that we started running. A storm is coming and we need to take cover. Are you guys going home?” he asked.

Duff told them how they were stuck and tried to get free, but just weren’t strong enough. He also told them how they had prayed that God would help them.

Harold smiled and said, “I think I know why we are here. God knew you were in trouble and heard your prayer. Then He used His power to send that bolt of lightning to make Harriet and I run over to you. I think God wants to use us to help you get out of that mud. Here, grab my tail.” Harold and Harriet stretched out their tails so that the little birds could reach them. Then they used their strong legs to pull the little birds out of the sticky mud. One by one the little birds were saved. They thanked Harold and Harriet and everyone praised God for answering their prayer.

“Now all of you should get home before the storm comes, but we hope to see you soon. Goodbye!” Harold said as the horses started to gallop away.

At bedtime that night the little birds told Dada Bird all about how God heard their prayer and used his power to rescue them. He was delight to hear their story.

As he tucked them in he said, “Always remember that God knows everything and He is powerful enough to do anything. Also, He will always help you because he loves you so much.”

As they thought about his words the little birds drifted off to sleep with peace in their hearts.
